July Festivities

July is my favorite month. It’s hot, it’s sunny, and there are lots of festivities all month long. Caitlan and I went to the Days of ‘47 parade earlier this week. The weather was perfect and we even got to see Spencer for a few minutes. My favorite part of the day was when Caitlan stopped the toy cart so that she could buy cotton candy. I love summer.

 

Last night, we had a neighborhood BBQ in the neighborhood that I grew up in. Our grill was the star of the show…after the fun was over though, someone had to push it back home. That’s where Courtney and Canden come in. I had to make fun of them and the earthquake they were causing down the middle of the street.

 

Today was the first day of the Parade of Homes in SLC. Kathryn and I have had our tickets for weeks and couldn’t wait to get to the “Up” house before it was too crowded. We were there an hour after it opened and decided that our eagerness was well worth it. The house is as adorable inside as it is out. In the basement, they have a “Toy Story” themed room that was made for Make-a-Wish…so adorable. Plus, they have balloons tied to the chimney, does the cute-ness ever end?

I love July.

Gourmet Hot Dog BBQ

This weekend, I put together a farewell party for a bunch of our friends who are moving away in the next few weeks. It was so fun to get together one last time this summer with so many wonderful friends. Those who know me know that I love to throw parties.  Someday I hope to have a beautiful home that is always full of parties and friends. Until then, I have to throw low-budget parties in the park. This night we had a “gourmet hot dog” buffet complete with franks, chili, cheese, onions and coleslaw- perfect for a DIY “Carolina Dog”.

No barbecue is complete though without the presence of plenty of good company.

Medical school and Grad school are stealing 7 of our friends this fall but will definitely give us some good vacation destinations!

Las Vegas, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Washington DC and Harvard…just to name a few.

We finished up our night in a beautiful theater room- courtesy of some of our dear friends- half watching a chick flick but mostly catching up one last time before we had to say goodbye!

Good luck and farewell (for now)…we hope to have a “Welcome Back” party in a few years!

Farmer’s Market

About a week ago, I spent the day with a dear friend who I have known most of my life. We had such a great time searching for the now-famous “UP” house and then headed to the Farmer’s Market for good finds and good food. These pictures were all taken by her- she is an amazing photographer. Afterwards, we met up with some other friends for a yummy lunch at Jason’s Deli. I love summertime and spending time with good friends.

 

Laser Quest

When I first called Laser Quest to book a private game for my husband's birthday party, the attendant asked in excitement- "How old is the birthday boy??"--"24." I replied. :)
We had a great turnout for a fun night of celebrating with family and friends. Thanks to everyone who came out and sorry we missed those who couldn't make it!
